Laptop Opinions...

Hey Buddies,

I'm fed up with my PC at the moment. I'm considering just getting a new desktop unit from Sony, but not sure. So for all you techies out there - which laptop would you recommend? And why?

An Apple Powerbook ... actually, yeah.
I'm against all computers, which is why I built mine. All parts are just standard shitty parts, integrated, and cheap. I built mine for almost or less than the store bought prices and it's even better b/c I decide what parts to go in it.

Apple's are the only computers I would buy ... and an iBook or Powerbook is sooo nifty!

Thanks sindy... in regards to making your own, i agree, much cheaper and you get better specs. Hence why i think i'm going to go for a less known brand and less expensive but with better specs than the well-known ones. I guess you pay more for the brand and well, I don't want that... just want one thats fast and will do the job lol... I found one which is pentium 4 and 3ghz whereas i found the apple powerbook was in the 1.6ghz range WTF.

Though I do hope one day that I'll have that huge powerbook, just not now *sigh* hahaha

i say a apple. they're pretty reliable and easy to work with.

if you want a pc/windows, i say get a sony. sony's are the only pc's i will get since they've been pretty reliable when i did have pc's. :)

both apple and sony makes really cute laptops.

thanks for the advice christine! after a chat with the bf, i've been looking more at specs rather than brands now or even considering just building one with specs i want.

HP zd8000 ... one of the best.
Toshiba makes some good ones too.

yea my bf has a toshiba one. but i've found an acer one which has better specs, he even agreed that it was better than his and he has a 3ghz one. i guess cos its not so known here, it's so much cheaper! YAY!

hahah i know apple is so tempting but the processor is half the speed of the acer one i just bought online ebuyer. i got chris to check if it was ok and he said it is, so much so he said i could dump my pc LOL. its 3.56ghz, pentium 4, 60gb, 256mb, dvd-cd-rw and umm a 15.4 widescreen TFT screen, plus more. It's only 579pounds, then i got 3 year warranty shld it break down and a mouse lol it came to 650. so its half the price of the apple 1 i want, but i'll probably have 1 of those in 3 years time - it'll take me that long to save lol. *looks for a new job* see what being on your regs does, i buy a bloody laptop.

if u get an apple one, just check the specs first ok... maybe a powerbook would be ideal?

i have a sony vaio, but i had problems with it. so i don't recommend sony. well, maybe their labtops are better than the desktops. i would go with apple or dell for labtop.

hey jen how r u? thanks for the advice. decided on this now http://www.global.acer.com/products/notebook/tm2700.htm purely on specs. i'm usually brand conscious but this time i decided to be sensible and it was cheaper than i imagined it to be. i'll see how it goes when i get it delivered next week.
