Now I've got another 'poor boy' to worry and angst over. Broken Dean, Blood-addicted Sam, crippled Bobby, falling Castiel and now lonely Chuck. Let's hope Becky can help him with that little problem.

Unfortunately, I'm rather bad at letting characters be happy. But I'm okay with leaving room for hope.
Thanks for reading. :)

I may have taken that irritation out on poor Chuck a little, because I desperately want him to be a useful, reasonable, real person. I'm glad it worked for you.

Chuck was just delightful, too. The show has him as this, I dunno, shrinking violet caricature. But we only see him in the context of Sam and Dean, who by virtue of their extraordinary lives must dwarf Chuck, make him small and nervous and brittle, like a small creature in a cage who knows it cannot escape but that large thing on the other side would have no problem breaking the bars to get in. But here you show us Chuck as he sees himself, and he's angry and sullen but he doesn't ever even think of himself in that context, just as somebody who's sliding on through, chasing liquor with liquor and shit days with shit days and bad dreams with more liquor until nothing's left but hollowness and some dick of an angel in the corner and this fucked-up life he can't even escape ( ... )

Seriously, though, it was delightful to read this comment. I love the idea of Chuck, but he's such a--well, you said it, a caricature--on the show that it's hard to really identify with him. I wanted him to be a person, and I wanted him to be more than a convenient prop for Becky. It's really gratifying as well that you liked the other characters, since OCs are always a little dicey in fic.
Thankyou so much for reading and leaving feedback--I'm glad you enjoyed it. :)
