they "tried" to get someone to take the puppy, but it's fairly clear that the little guy's won their hearts...

I know you've already had this subject on your mind recently, and then to have this happen.... :(

Having a pet for 17 years and then having to say goodbye is simply heartbreaking, I've been there too. Seventeen years is a good part of one's own life, and I think it can make the attachment that much stronger. The loss that much harder.

Thinking of you guys.

Deb also pointed out that Sugar's absence may remind her mom that she doesn't have grandkids yet. gah!
