I barely got to experience him as the iconic anchor, just reports on NPR, but there's just... something missing in the world today. Odd that it would happen after the weekly news cycle had ended, and during this anniversary of the moon landing.

He was right there in the thick of some of the greatest historical moments of the 20th Century, reporting on them. (and his passing will get a tenth of the attention that Jackson's did.)

MSNBC has been all over it, and CNN as well. I didn't see anything on the other channels.

It's been interesting hearing the reminiscences from Daniel Schorr, Dan Rather, Tom Brokaw, Brian Williams... all the more impressive.
