How stupid can the states and union movement get? The Commonwealth Government has consitutional powers to legislate for the whole country? No! You don't say! SInce when? Well I never.

You miss the point. Cases need to get up to find out the limits of the government's power.

As we live in a federal system (barely, it would seem these days), the balance between states and federal powers is important. The fact of the matter is, the Cth used a very broad definition of the corporations power to enact legislation that was really about industrial relations. And the High Court said this was constitutional.

Devilishous is right. The federal government can now potentially completely abrogate the states by legislating for ANY area of government using the corporations power. And as much as Labor protests this new centralism, they're secretly salivating for the day they get back in.
