This music project is having some interesting moments.
One does not realise they have an East 17 song that is not merely their favourite East 17 song, but a song that is likely to go really deep in this process. It's going to far outlast some genuinely incredible music.
Cher is interesting. Walking In Memphis is bound to be the last of hers standing, it's a great track that has grown on me over the years. But it's also interesting because as much as I like it, I don't like it *that* much. So I guess it'll stick around for a fair while, but I already know it isn't going to make it until the end. And then there's that... I could just delete stuff like it right now and save myself the effort. But I want this thing to be a bit organic, and to be a long enough process to give things a fighting chance, and to give me a chance to really have an opinion about some tracks.
Katy Perry is going to be an absolute nightmare. There are 2-3 anthems, 2-3 ballads, and 2-3 others that'll be vying for one spot. I think at 200-300 songs there's still going to be a load of Katy Perry. Avril is going to be tough to trim too. Speaking of which, a great deletion today was getting rid of Leona Lewis version of I Will Be, because I clearly prefer Avril's version.
I'm, honestly, already noticing an improvement in quality. Even with just a couple of hundred tracks removed I don't tend to get runs of tracks I can pretty easily skip, and I'm getting more impressive runs of music where I don't skip at all.
Some of the categories I'm coming up with to allow me to compare music with other music are interesting. For instance "Breakdance movie music". I have to have something like that otherwise just about all the music from those films would last a fair while, as opposed to kissing most of it farewell because Believe In The Beat is ridiculous, and is miles ahead of everything else!
Just for what it is worth. I'm absolutely convinced that if I ever get to a final 10, Katy Perry will be there. If there are 2-3 tracks that are female lead pop music I expect it'll be her squeezing out other stuff.
Sleeper track of the day: Atomic Kitten - Whole Again. I know I'll pick it over a whole bunch of other stuff. It's going to get a free ride a long way into this process.

I found an Ohm today in Diablo 2. This latest character also found Occy and Shako in the first 2 Meph/Andy runs after finishing the campaign (not a Sorc, but still).
FWIW over the last few weeks: several Guls, 2-3 Vex, 3 Ohm, 2 Sur, Jah, 2 Cham. I've spent the vast majority of my time "levelling up" as opposed to actively farming in ways that're particularly good for high runes.
