If you go to edit the post, click the "Backdate" check box and enter a date a few years in the future. This way, the post will be the first one at the top of the screen every time, since it will be the "most recent" entry.

Check the date on my most recent entry. That's the farthest-into-the-future date LJ will allow you to have; I'd recommend using that. =]
