For Your Consideration was soooooooo bad. Waiting for Guffman is one of my favorite movies ever and I also enjoy Best in Show and Mighty Wind, but Consideration was awful. Everyone was badly miscast and seemed to try and do more scripted comedy instead of sticking to the usaul improv stuff. I wasnt alone in this claim either. My sister (who reviews films for a living) and my friend Andrew (who attended the advanced premiere that cast members were at) were also in complete agreement. Drew was telling me that at the question and answer session, after the premiere, nobody asked any questions because everyone was so shocked at how horrible the film was.
Nutcracker isnt til December 22nd and 23rd. You thought it was november? Let me know when your coming in town. Even if it's not for Nutcracker, we have to chill.
Well, that's too bad. I like them so much it's a shame - I suppose it's a good thing that the movie didn't even make it to the MS Gulf Coast so I won't get to see it.
OK!! That makes more sense - I don't know why I thought it was in Novemeber because I thought that was a little early - anyway I may be there those dates, let me check!
Pretty, but overly philosophical/religious without any real implications or effectiveness. (Oh, Hugh Jackman's eighth time crying was overkill and there were circles everywhere, but what do you expect from the man behind "Pi?")
I'd recommend people to see it because it reminds us that film is indeed art, but that same idea isn't enough to make me want to see it ever again.
I can say it was a very well-done movie. Visually stunning with amazing audio effects that will unfortunately go overlooked (such as the scene where Jackman walks down the street with absolutely no sound until a car comes to a screeching halt), the movie was ambitious (something I respect in art) but unfortunately without aim.
I disagree. I enjoyed the way they would go back to images and faces to help you try and piece it all together. So many films try to toy around with chronology and repitition and fail misirably, where I think this filmed succedded in it. Sure, the plot was unclear, but it left you as the viewer to make assumptions and deduce what you really think took place. The movie also stayed away from dumb CGI effects which would have easily categorized it as just another "effects bombast."
Aronophsky's detail and specificity to every single shot in the film kind of blows my mind.
