Happy New Year

Happy New Year, everyone. I made it through the evening without mishap. A lady friend of mine had asked me to go to a big dance last night. I wasn't all that fired up about it and neither was she. She just didn't want to sit home alone on the big night. :-) So, I guess she figured going somewhere with me was better than nothing. I'm not sure she ( Read more... )

Laura Linney - she's great in everything I've seen her in.

She was outstanding in "The Savages". I'm not sure if I've ever seen her in anything else. She'll certainly get some critical recognition for her performance this time, that's for sure.

The barcode scanner: what a great idea! I got tired of cataloging my CDs, but with a scanner it would be so much easier. And then I could do our books, too! What type did you order, and from where?

Happy New Year!

I agree. I wish I had had one when I did my CDs. It's a laborious job doing it by hand.

Anyway, I got the barcode scanner from Library Thing. It cost $15.00 (they'll send it to me) but I think you have to join to buy one. Joining is a minimum of $10.00, but would probably be worth it if you want the scanner.

I joined because i am a bibliophile and need to organize and catalog my books. The price is certainly right. And, they also link to Live Journal some how or other.

I have scoured the website again but can't find access to the scanner information except for the page where a person 'upgrades' from a free membership to a paid membership. Like I say, the ten bucks may be wort it to you. Sorry I can't be more helpful.

This is an interesting article:

I think the price you paid for that scanner is a serious bargain!

That is a great article. Thanks for the referral. I actually followed his advice and ordered that "ReaderWare" software bundle. They throw in a free bar code reader. You get what you pay for. :-)

I ordered the software for books, CDs and DVDs since I have a lot of each. I hate when I buy one or the other and find out I've already got it.

I'll let you know how the great project goes. I think I'll wait til I get the material to proceed any further. The LIBRARYTHING can probably be merged with the ReaderWare some how.

10000 books?? That's quite a number.
I hope the bar-code-scanner works for you.

Happy New Year Ben.

The bananas are giving me the strength to carry on...

I also have about one thousand CDs and a couple hundred DVDs which I am going to catalog. Why don't you come over here and help me? :-)

Yes, that's true. I really need to slow down on acquiring books, though. That's why I ordered that device they call an electronic reader. You can "load" hundreds, even thousands of books into it (on SD cards) and never have to carry another book around.
