# of fics per fandom
Cabin Pressure: 1
Supernatural RPF: 2
Leverage: 6
Sherlock (BBC): 7*
Merlin: 23**
* out of which 2 are bonus material (illustrations) for a Big Bang, so this, technically, brings the number down to five, putting it between Supernatural RPF and Levergae
**out of which 17 are Podfics, 2 are alternate versions of each other (one illustrated, one text only), which means that I only have 5 original works in this fandom, and therefore it, again, technically, ranks between Leverage and Supernatural RPF

It's infinitely interesting to me that, even though Sherlock fandom used to produce the most hits, they rarely left kudos or comments. If I do the math for the top 3 Sherlock fics (13,326 Hits between them), only every 40th hit produced a kudo, and only every 666th hit ended in a comment. At least every 130th hit made someone bookmark a Sherlock fic.Compare that to Merlin fandom: The three fics with the most hits still only come up to 4,497 Hits, but: every 13th hit is a Kudo, every 85th hit is a Comment, and every 55th hit is a BookmarkWhich means that even though Merlin fandom is less active overall, those that are active are far more appreciative of the fanworks created. To be fair: I haven't received any more hits on Sherlock fics since 2013 - when I posted the last Sherlock fic. That means that when I first posted the Sherlock stories, people were all over it, but now that time has passed, canon has moved along, and millions of stories have been written, mine have been buried. Which, tbh, is a blessing XDIt also means that Sherlock fandom, at large, did read (or at least hit) my stories when they were first posted. The fact that all those 13k hits were produced in the span of not even 2 whole years (I posted the first story in March 2012, and the last in November 2013), speaks of how massive the Sherlock fandom is (was).Which makes me wonder how many hits, kudos, comments, etc. I would've received if I'd posted Merlin fic during that time. The show was just ending. Could be that the fandom was less appreciative of authors back then (since there was still new material to work with), or maybe they've always been this supportive.Overall I'm pleased that my Merlin fics, even though overall still behind the dreaded Shitshow, are getting attention - despite the relatively small fandom due to no new material. It tells me that Merlin fans are incredibly loyal (as if I didn't already know that). It should be said though that I think that a lot of traction comes from posting to fests. Standing right in front of you was for ACBB last year, all the places you find love for a relatively large scale Secret Santa thing on tumblr in 2015. In comparison, Wrong Number and Christmas Holidays Aren't What They Used to Be were posted (almost) separately. (Christmas Hols was written for a super small, barely frequented holiday themed fest on LJ, and Wrong Number was a tiny ficlet for COiNELOT, a con I co-organised/hosted last year.)Which is one more reason why I prefer to post for challenges and fests. The audience is automatically bigger because most participants make a point of reading other participants' stories out of solidarity. And those fests/challenges get outside attention as well. Especially ACBB.This was fun. I shall do it again next year :D
