Available resources is the difference between now, and about fifteen years ago. Back then, I couldn't find information/utilities someone had shared on making an install just work. To get regular folks to use an operating system, the install has to be as simple as 'download the file, burn to disk, put disk in computer, reboot, follow instructions without understanding, everything works.'
