Possibly the last for a couple of weeks as tomorrow I am back in the thick of it. Primary teachers cover all the subjects, except in my case not P.E and not Indonesian as we have specialist teachers for that. And yeah, it's hard work.
... There's the preparation and planning, pretesting to make sure things will work, and you have to follow the government / state curriculum guidelines. You are expected to do so many hours of professional development and training g each year in your free time and be available for out of school activities as well.
So last week on Monday I opened my room at 8.30. The children left at 3.10. I stayed in there preparing for lessons and putting up some of the finshed art work until 5.30 when I went to library for a Parents Orientation Night. At six I went back to my class with some parents to answer any questions and give them the term planning overview. After they left I stayed till getting things ready for the next day.
Tuesday I started at 8.30 and dismissed the students at 3.10. My morning break was spent on yard duty while the staff meeting at 3.30 that day ironically enough was about the schools' Behaviour Management Policy. The meeting ended after 5 and I left about 6.
Usually I will work till about 5 to 6, and then come in for half the day on Saturday or Sunday as well. Over the holidays I will be coming in a bit to set the class up then too. Then there is there is the work I bring home as well.
However, I like to work. I have to work hard right now as it is all new and I need to get it right for the kids, fair enough. Any one who turns around and tells me to my face that as a teacher I get it easy is going to get it though as that is so much BS. My mentor, she has 27 years teaching experience and works very hard still while the principal often works very late at night.
Wow. Guess I needed to tell someone about all that.
For a change of pace, I took this off of
missmozell You scored as Dragon. You are the Dragon. You store a lot of knowledge about everything. You are generally one who is good with personal growth and can regenerate yourself after a bad experience.
