Life Sucks Rotten Eggs Sometimes
I'm a little down right now, and it's because of a couple of tragedies that happened this weekend.
The school I was assigned to earlier this year is an area school, which means it takes in all the children from the surrounding areas up to 50 or so kms away, and teaches students from Reception up to year 12. What has happened will affect the whole school, teachers and students, the SSOs the parents and the local Community since Kangaroo Island only has a population of 4000 - everybody knows or knows of the people involved.
This weekend some students were in a car accident, killing one and putting another in Intensive Care. Also this same weekend a recent ex student killed himself.
So tomorrow us teachers will have to deal with and help the students who knew these children, which all of them did, were related to them in some way, which a third of them are, or knew of them. So here's a big one. What do you say to a class of six and seven year olds?
And I saw a mouse in my house Friday, so have laid down some traps to get it and the others. The man in the hardware store said it's the time of year for them.
