Howard Stearn has instituted some sort of reverse popularity thing. There's actually a web site where people are induced to vote for this little twerp. It's a real plot. Not fooling.
It's really not a talent show anymore; it's a popularity contest. I saw the hallmark during the first season when than mop-haired boy was vying with Kelly Clarkson for the top spot. He was ridiculously ugly and nontalented, and it just shows that squeeing morons will vote for anything in tight pants. I LMAOed when he released his CD and it sold roughly that which K-Fed's would several years later.
With the exception of KC and Carrie Underwood, I think most of the so-called winners of the show suck. Reuben Sandwich, Fantastic Screeching, and Salt-and-Pepper are not my idols.
But, I think Sanjaya takes the cake for awfulness, especially when people who actually have a modicum of talant get sent home and that joke gets to stay.
Oh, I agree! He's terrible, and it's very pathetic that people have jumped on his bandwagon for the sole purpose of keeping him around because he's so awful. It's a sad commentary on the American people that we would vote people off who are incredibly talented simply because we want to perpetuate the delusions of a dork.
