The not drinking is going well, except soft drinks get really boring after 3, I tend to want to be home by 10.30, and I feel hungover in the morning anyway (tho I think this is mostly down to suffering from sleep paralysis (and possibly sleep apnoea: I feel hypoxic anyway!). Thank you for all the supportive messages ( Read more... )

Have you been to the sleep doctor? I got diagnosed with sleep apnoea last year and got the breathing machine. It took about a month to get used to and was quite depressing at first, but once I got going it was pretty nice not to fall asleep all the time. Also it made me less grumpy.

I just realised I don't really know what sleep paralysis is.

Runny Snot!™
Ginger Beer, Appletize and bitter lemon in a pint glass filled up with ice.

Also, I played really fast and loose last night at the poker game in your place. Apologies for doing woefully badly in your place...

well done on the quiting of drinking anyhow.
As guy kinda suggests,i usually fin loads of silly ways to change up soft drinks.
Blackcurent & orange & lemonade/soda is an old fav.Blackcurent and coke also a good fallback.
try drinking lots of sugary soft drinks/red bull will give you a buzz and keep you going. But make sure you drink water too as you will dehydrate just as bad on coke as you do on alchohol(i always find that when i quit drinking).Hence the hungover feeling!

Hey work is a means to an end.It pays the rent and allows you money to socialise and do you things!I always try to remember this when i get down about it!

*HUgs* and hope you feel better soon

long virgin - long vodka without the vodka. make it with soda, rather than lemonade, so that you don't get sugared out after 2 or 3 of 'em.

I did have a beer with my lunch today (just the one, which was very enjoyable). My problem with soft drinks is that I don't like sugary things very much at all, and water gets really tiresome after the 3rd glass. Relentless is good, but not everywhere sells it, and I'm a bit caffeine sensitive, so more than 2 or 3 isn't a good idea. Soda & OJ is ok, but again, gets dull very quickly. Virgin marys are nice, but filling! Soda & lime (preferably a bit of lime, rather than cordial) is again doable, but also gets old fast. Shame you can't still get small beer. I believe there is now an alcohol-free whisky (aimed at the muslim market), but it's prolly quite hard to get...
