"A Spell for Chameleon" Movie in 2006

Apr 11, 2005 17:47

The movie "A Spell for Chameleon" is getting ready to be made and directed by Tim McCanlies. It's funny how they don't show how Piers Anthony was related to "Total Recall" with Arnold Schwarzenegger.

That's funny about the previous post about someone asking about the movie right after I mentioned it.

I had already posted it at 5:43 pm on my personal Journal.

Well, he only did the novelization of Total Recall. (Also, it wasn't all that good...)

...

Yes. It did hurt to say that.

Yep. On a side note, that Dragon Theme surfaced again.

Plus, I had that neat occurrence where someone born on 3-22, which is when my dad died (the year that "A Spell for Chameleon" came out in 1977) and the time mentioned in "National Treasure" made her first ever Journal Entry.

That's so awesome! I was wondering when they would start making Xanth movies, since they're doing the Narnia books. My mom will be very excited to hear about the Spell For Chameleon movie!

Yeah, I'd be interested in seeing that. Plus, CGI has gotten to a point where you can make magical stuff more believable on screen.

oh god no - I think a movie would be awful - they're never as good as the books.

YOu made good point. I remember being in a conversation with someone who was really bothered by the remake of "Battlestar Galactica" because they didn't follow the original series or the books ( ... )

It's just that very often film makers want the book to fit their idea\s rather than what the writer did. Lord of the Rings was a very good film series, but even so, it missed out huge sections, changed some scenes, and warped some of the characters. Plus we didn't even get the last but one chapter - the scouring of the shire ( ... )

"Plus we didn't even get the last but one chapter - the scouring of the shire."

Yeah, I'd read the books years ago, but I remember that, and then when I saw the movies I thought maybe I'd imagined it, or maybe it was in The Hobbit and not any of the LOTR books. I thought they would have put that in there if it had been in the LOTR books.. But, I guess not.

Yeah, I do agree with you that Hollywood might not get the humor of Xanth because most of it is just a play on the words, and that would be hard to convey on the big screen.

Yep, a lot of people don't get Piers Anthony's sense of humor and all those puns.

A man walks into a bar and sees this baby that's playing the piano brilliantly. He walks over to the sullen bartender and says, "That's amazing! Where did you find him?"

The bartender says glumly, "I found a Genie's Lamp and made a wish."

The man says, "That's terrific!"

The bartender says, "Yeah, but I didn't wish for a 10-inch pianist."
