Does anyone have an explaination for the wierd rape trial Bink and Chameleon take part in when Bink's going through the Gap village? The whole thing never really gets explained.

OK. I re-read this section last night. What it is is that it's not actually a trial. Due to the sensitive nature of the accusations the parties involved want to know where a judge would stand in principle were the thing to go to court. The reason there are two "spare" males and females is to try to protect the identies of the supposed rapist and rapee. As the judge says he would likely not find the man guilty (for various reasons he gives in the section) the woman does not want to go ahead with a trial as it would damage her reputation.

its been so long sense i read this....Antheerr is right. The main thing i remember is that it was a mock-trial to see what would happen in the real thing.
