A Spell for Chameleon

I was introduced to Xanth by a woman who bought me a book for Christmas. I think she just grabbed the first book she saw but unbeknownst to her it would be my favorite book of all time - Demons Don't Dream ( Read more... )

I think I suspected something about his talent when he passed through the sheild when he was exiled...but it's been about six years since I first read Chameleon (altho I reread it a few months ago). Only being in 7th grade at the time I only suspected something but couldn't figure it out.

I thought his talent was to use things to his advantage, like how he used Trent to survive the wilderness. But I read it so long ago that I probably wasn't all that bright. Oh well.

Also, Bink books are great. One of my favorite protaganists of the series, always questioning things and wondering about stuff.

Bink is my favorite fictional character of all time.

I almost killed my friend when she said she hated Bink because his name made her think of a child's name for a blanket or pacifire.

Believe it or not, I figured it out in the first five chapters during my 6th grade english class when the dude next to me was talking about how he was immune to the flu.

I am not, however.

One can't be immune to the flu! Maybe this year's version of the virus, but it keeps adapting! O_O

Anyway. I also started at the other end (I stole Xone of Contention out of the backpack of this boy on whom I had a crush, read it, ended up borrowing it for the night, and then clandestinely returned it to his backpack the next day. Unfortunately I realised I'd started with the wrong book.). Then I read them all out of order.

So then I joined this community and found out what his talent was....so it got spoiled for me before I ever read Spell for Chameleon. =( That didn't ruin the goodness of the book for me though.
