Enough...

I know I tend to rant on politics and philosophy a lot. That's just the nature of who I am, I guess. I don't pretend to be so profound, or to have TEH ANSWERS TO EVERYTHING, but I feel I might as well make some use of this journal ( Read more... )

Totally. *hug*

I state again... if the tide had turned the other way... Republicans wouldn't be talking about running away.

No talk of Canada as the better option from Kerry.

We'd be saying, "We lived through Clinton. We can live through this."

Quitters. That's what these detractors are... this talk of succession... QUITTERS! And whiny babies.

Get over it al-fucking-ready... it's only 4 years. Come up with a game plan. Make a difference... don't run because you lost.

Absolutely. And I find it really ironic that they accuse Bush of somehow wanting to undermine democracy, yet now that the election hasn't gone there way, rather than doing the democratic thing and working with the government we all elected to hammer out something that works for them too, they'd rather split. Un-fucking-believable. I'm not a Republican by any means, but if this keeps up I will be.

I think it's why the old Democratic South has slowly become more Republican.

The South is Pro-America.

Scoff if you will, but since the Reformation, we're alllll about America. Democracy. The nobler ideals. Even the reddest redneck in the rattiest truck will stand beside the geekiest geek if it's in support of the country. Period.

Republicans are willing to fight and die for democracy.

I think you summed it up right there. Willing to die for what they believe in. Willing to lay it all right out on the line, take one for the team. An innate belief that America is larger than one person or one set of ideals. That America is worth saving. And respecting the President, whomever he might be, is a big part of that.

I have learned to hold my tongue when what I want to say isn't helpful.

I wish everyone could just grow up a little.

Yeah, I think you're right about the South.

And the Republicans are welcoming southerners with open arms.

Democrats, meanwhile, have become associated with things like the anti-war movement, and from what I can tell to the extent the DNC pays attention to south at all it kind of looks down on it. I can totally see why people in the Old South have been fleeing the party in droves.
