Why live life from dream to dream
and dread the day when dreaming ends?

...for the tender grace of a day that is dead
shall never come back to me.

Yes, I tend to have a rather bleak outlook much of the time. Like an elf, either looking backward and forward until it's no longer bearable or living in the moment with a lightness and intensity usually only ( Read more... )

hray!
current thoughts are Sala Thai in Arlington, unless you hate Thai food, because i'll already be in Rosslyn and it's near Manda, who apparently does still have finals (CLASSES were over today, finals are next week), so she can studystudystudystudydinnerwithpeopleyay!studystudystudy.

Like an elf, either looking backward and forward until it's no longer bearable or living in the moment with a lightness and intensity usually only shown by children.

This is why I friended you so long ago - we are so much alike. May I take that quote and possibly post about it myself at some point in the near future?

Of course you may!

My examples, though you probably don't need the explanation, are Arwen's betrothal ("I will turn from the twilight...") and the silly singing elves near Rivendell (in the Hobbit, not in LOTR) whose song I can't remember, but which was a fairly vivid image for me.

(Yes, I know it may be unfair to other elves everywhere to use the word to mean a tolkien-elf, but...)

I actually wrote this several weeks ago, and now I'm glad I re-posted it unlocked.
