Ambiguity

It was an emotionally exhausting day, what with being an amateur firefighter (see previous entry) and other things.  I tried all day to sit down and do work, I really did, but the universe continually thwarted my plans.  I did, however, manage to get my poetry reading done, write half a poem and go through a few of the books for my English project ( Read more... )

college, friends, dad, introspection, texas tech, life, school, mom, go team me!

We want your delicious BRAIIIIINS!

Hey, you tell your dad you want to go to UofGlasgow and see if he still says 'yes'.

Good way to get out of it if you don't want to go and...the mere idea of you and Jim and myself renting a flat together ....is it sad that 'OMG best friend and fiancee in the same house living together and going to grad school together' has me more excited over the PRACTICAL applications of that scenario?

"Oh I get to show them the cool bars and where to shop. That's nifty."

"OH MY GOD I COULD HAVE OBJECTIVE OPINIONS ON GRADING PAPERS AND I GET TO HELP THEM IN THEIR DEPARTMENTS AND IF I DO THAT I GET TO SEE THEIR DEPARTMENTS AND MAYBE WE CAN ALL HAVE IDEAS FOR COLLECTIVE STUDIES AND PAPERS..."(This goes on for awhile.)

I just want you to know that I was snorting the entire time I read this comment.

Also, since I don't think I've seen you online in quite a while, would you mind if I emailed you some fic that I'd like a second opinion on? I'm going to try to finish a chapter first and I don't need a super in-depth beta but I just want an opinion as to whether it's worth pursuing.

Ugh, grad school. <--That's how I feel.

Sweet potatoes totally depend on chopped size and heat. And they always taste better at a lower temp for longer time. The longer they cook, the more the natural sugars in the yam "mature." Totally true.

And I'm sorry I ruined your work-day.

I find it rather hilarious that I get one comment going "YES GRAD SCHOOL DO EET" and then another one saying "Grad school mrrrr..." Just goes to show that different strokes for different folks.

I think I needed to cook 'em for another ten minutes or so, but now I'll know for next time! ^_^ Thanks for the advice!

Oh and this?

The year before I left I made Hollie and Paul sweet potato crisps and I AM SO glad I started early. Also a lady in my grandparents' building gave me the advice that (well this is a little obvious but I totally didn't even think of it so it's worth noting IMO) the thinner you chop 'em the faster they bake. Next time I did them, I did shoestring chips. Was a dream.
