I would think that more than 50 people would have been at least interested in parking fines that ranged into the thousands. I wonder how many people actually were gonna go ahead and pay that much without thinking twice, heh.

Repeatedly reboot its main computer... Mine did that when Win2K had some kind of stop error (it flashed too quickly for me to read the damned message), but then again my computer didn't cost billions of dollars and isn't on another planet. I hope they got the rover working fine again.. I haven't been keeping up with NASA news other than what I get in the newsletters and what's posted on Slashdot from time to time.

fortuneatly, yes, they do. the repeated rebooting was draining the battery , but they managaed to correct the glitch in time. it seems that currently they are deleting several thousand files from the opportunity rover's memory (files that dealt with interplanetary-travel procedure and such, no doubt) in an attempt to save themselves the problem of loosing that one, too.

yeah, i also wonder about those uw-m students. wonder how many pot heads got sent letters that they owed $12,024 or so and are trying to flee the country now . ..
