So, I was intending to post something here after my trip to Washington state, but that didn't happen, for whatever reason. So, for those who didn't know, I went to a scientific conference at Friday Harbor (on San Juan Island, very near to Victoria BC)... the Society for Developmental Biology northwest regional meeting. I didn't have anything to ( Read more... )

Talk to me about local printers who specialise in smaller than 1,000 print runs. Email me off-LJ because there are some.

There are a few here that I know of, but they would charge us nearly 20 dollars a unit for small print runs. If we get up to 1000, the cost comes down to 5.50 a unit. I dunno if I still have your email address (I have a new computer)... email me at xaq at shaw dot ca! :-)

There's no beer in Creationism either, so where does that leave us.

Okay, Science + Beer = M theory.

If my experiences in Friday Harbor are anything to go by, Science + Beer = drunk people putting lights in the bay to attract invertebrates and catching them in jars and then playing "identify the species". Also drunken row-boating, and lots of slurred excited talk about people's research interests and Evo-Devo in general.

Or perhaps a better summary might be: Nerds + Beer = Science.

Nice to see an update from you! The conference sounds exciting. What is it called and where is it?

Oh, and: rebuilding her buffer?

Sorry to hear that you've been sick. Get better quickly.

I'm in the planning stage of an animation company with Carrie S.

You mean the Comic Convention? Calgary, the last weekend in April. Check out the website at www.calgaryexpo.com, tickets just went on sale.

Rebuilding her buffer as in getting a buffer of comics done ahead of time. She used to be over 2 weeks ahead, but working on the book ate up her buffer.
