Credit Trouble

I've recently been interested in applying for a credit card since soon I'll be living on my own and more than likely will need to charge certain items. So I decide one day to apply for Mastercard or something, and I get mail back saying that I have a delinquent credit history and that I have been turned down. I found this kind of odd, considering

Grr. That's some rotten luck! I've got pretty good credit history. After seeing my older brother rack up some serious debt I got really paranoid about it. Although, since I've moved back home I've stopped using my card because I have no means to pay it. But for some reason, they keep on raising my limit. I think they're trying to tempt me.
