but in all sariousness...it's supposed to be one of the most underrated lenses nikon ever made.

And for the record, an awful lot of current Nikon lenses are predominantly plastic so that shouldn't worry you all the much.

A) It will be lighter
B) Its a whole hell of a lot cheaper than the metal body pro-series lenses. And let's face it, its not like you're going to be abusing much anyway.
C) The glass is every bit as good. And f1.8 is ridiculously fast.

It is an underrated lens, it has both a reputation for speed and for an insane amount of sharpness. Regret not my son.

This is that Ebay store I was telling you about, good place for Nikon stuff. The Canon's are good cameras too, I personally don't care for their ergonomics, but that's a personal preference issue.
