Massu is sitting on their couch, a blanket on his lap and a smile on his face as he texts away quietly on his phone. Every few moments his phone will beep with a reply and something resembling a giggle will slip out. Every time it does, Tegoshi feels something unpleasant twist in his stomach.
This is the first night off that they’ve had in common in almost a month, and Tegoshi has been looking forward to it. It’s rare that they get to spend time together these days, between work and social obligations. The time they do have is usually in the form of brief, little moments spread out through the week; short kisses, subtle touches, soft smiles. Little things that are never quite enough.
Today was supposed to be just for them. And it would be perfect, if it weren’t for Maru. Maru, who has the day off as well. Maru, who apparently has nothing better to do but spend all day texting Tegoshi’s boyfriend.
Tegoshi is starting to contemplate murder.
He doesn’t usually have a problem with Massu’s friendship with the KAT-TUN member. This, however, has Nakamaru creeping into dangerous territory, and Tegoshi will be damned before he decides to sit back and do nothing.
He can’t just say anything, though. That would just make him look pathetic. So instead, he settles for staring pointedly at the older man until Massu finally takes notices.
As wrapped up in his phone as he is, it takes the older man several moments to do so.
“Um…” he says, blinking at the rather intense glare he’s being subject to. “Can I help you?”
Tegoshi’s lips thin. “No,” he says shortly.
“Oh.” A beat while Massu considers him. And then, “Are you… angry about something?”
“No.” In a tone that clearly says yes.
Now Massu’s frowning. “Did I do something?”
“No.”
They’re quiet for a few moments, just staring intently at each other. Tegoshi feels transparent under that look, but refuses to back down. After a few moments, Massu nods, like he’s figured it out. Tegoshi waits until he goes back to his phone before speaking.
“So, how’s Maru?” And if he sounds petulant, well. It’s not his fault.
Massu stops abruptly and throws Tegoshi an incredulous look. “Really?” He says slowly. “I never took you for the jealous girlfriend type.”
Tegoshi goes red, turns away and crosses his arms with a pout, a little insulted but not enough of a hypocrite to admit it. Behind him, he hears Massu sigh, go back to his phone to finish his text before setting it down on the table-
-and then squeals as he feels a pair of arms seize him around the middle while Massu proceeds to drag him to the bedroom.
Tegoshi doesn’t have much to complain about after that.
