Bridge Motel

Seattle's notrious Bridge Motel is scheduled for demolition. For years it has been a haven to drug addicts, prostitutes, and murders, with your occasional ghost sighting thrown in for kicks. It's passing inspired a group of artists to take it over for one night and throw an recklessly extravagant party in its wake.

The parking lot housed the motel's furniture as a lounge area for people to sit and drink from the "bar", which of course didn't have a liquor license. A friend asked for a beer, and was handed a glass. When asked how he should pay for it, the "bartender" pointed towards a fishtank full of money and simply said, "well that's there," comically unwilling to divulge any more information than that.

Every room of the motel had its own art installation. Most were performance art and/or interactive. Personally I enjoyed the red room filled with salt, though Caitlin was a fan of the room made to look like a spaceship. The blinds were shut and you communicated to two drunk "astronauts" via a television and microphone (not pictured).

Unfortunately it was ridiculously crowded. At one point I overheard someone running it frantically talking to an artist about how we were exceeding the weight limitations for the 2nd story balcony. Soon after that we left.
