Summary: It wasn't his heart, but it was close enough, right?

"It's not my heart," he starts, stressing the "my" as his face twists into a strained smile, "but it's close enough, right?"

All of his words are bitter on his tongue, like they're stained with acid that can be swallowed back into the throat at a moment's notice; Minho's cautious of this. The smile on his face falters into a simple straight line when the smaller boy in front of him starts to back up slowly, his steps slow and calculated, face pale with fear.

"Minho, what have you done?" Key's voice is low in the darkness of their apartment, vibrating against the shattered glass table and thin wooden walls. "W-what have you done?" he repeats and continues to move back until his back is up against the wall.

Minho only holds up the organ in his hands up higher, his hands and arms covered in a deep burgundy color. There are still some droplets of a richer color falling from his elbows to the off-white carpet. He can hear Kibum's identical organ pound in his chest, and he sees his eyes watering though he remains as close to calm as he can. He thinks that is so typically Kibum to be this dramatic over something like this.

"It's the heart you wanted, Kibum. I finally got it for you." Minho takes a deep breath and that strained smile jumps to his face like a magnet to false words of comfort. Being Kibum's best friend, Minho had listened to years of his whining about how Jonghyun was untouchable. How much Key wanted to capture Jonghyun's heart somehow. While Key wasted days yearning for someone else, he never noticed that Minho was yearning for his. Minho finally found a way to make a dream come true. What was the saying again? An eye for an eye; a heart for a heart?

Key brings his hand over his mouth as the breath is taken from his gut; his worst fears and assumptions just realized.Every breath takes too much effort, and he chokes on the vomit rising in his throat. The taller male's eyebrows knit together, obviously displeased with the lack of appreciation being demonstrated by the person before him. The nerve. He draws his hands behind his back, much like a child in trouble, and his head bows in just the slightest way.

"What did I do wrong this time?" The this time sounds too familiar to both their ears.

The blond pulls himself away from the wall with shaky muscles, pushing past the petulant man-child and pacing around the apartment. His foot steps are heavy, clunking against the floor with every movement.

"Jonghyun!" he screams, voice cracking as he calls out louder, tears taking over majority of the sound until the name sounds like nothing more than a broken screech. He calls over and over again. His search for their roommate only ends with finding blood streaks over old pictures and new curtains, puddles that have been trekked through by someone else's sneakers. Minho only stays put in the kitchen, staring at his feet as he listens to the strained voice grow more and more tired.

After walking circles and checking every room thoroughly, the broken boy falls to the floor in the hallway. Hiding his face in his forearms, he tries one last time weakly, "Jjong..."

Minho approaches the mess upon the floor, big eyes scanning over his handy work, glistening with pride. His hands are still behind his back, but his previous childish tone is buried under a disturbingly stern voice now.

"Jonghyun isn't here."

a/n: "I want to write something fluffy," I said, then this happened.
