Zach got a beta invite from a guild he ran a few ICCs with on his rogue. They liked him so much they wanted him to come along for the beta ride they got by winning a guild contest. In short, he's a lucky duck.
He's also an incredibly sweet duck, since he told me I could have a few of his character slots and premades to play around with :3 I'm trying to pare down my list of things that I must have come Cataclysm, but it's tough. Zach thinks that I can't get anything done without making a list. He's probably right.
1. GOBLIN SOMETHING. I'm thinking I'll finally level that warlock I've been wanting to make as a goblin. Zach made a little female goblin last night and ran around doing some of the starting quests, and Kezan looks UH-MAZE-ING. We were both blown away by the feeling of big industry within the context of WoW. It was such a cool and unique thing to see. Also? We flipped through a couple of the /silly and /flirt emotes, but I wasn't completely taken in until I heard "I need ta target somethin' first," which is weird, but that's totally what sold me on goblins forever. So frakking cute.
2. WORGEN SOMETHING, OBVS. I'm pretty much in love with the male worgen voice and models. The females (what little we've seen of them) just aren't impressing me, which is a bummer. I've never leveled a male toon. Hell, I've never even MADE one, so I don't know how this will work out, but I'm still excited :) Gilneas has some really cool features, and I LOVE the feel of the place, even if it isn't quite as cool as Kezan :P Also, the NPC's accents are too precious.
3. TAUREN PALADIN. YES YES YES YES YESSSSSSSSSSSSS. I'm debating on dropping some cash to make Caelynn a tauren when it becomes available, and then making my shaman a dwarf to compensate for my lack of dorfy goodness. I need more toons Horde-side anyway.
4. DWARF. EFFING. SHAMAN. Of COURSE.
There are other things, but I want to mention how much I love the new character select screen and a few other features. I don't know why it's taken Blizz so long to do casting/melee animations for the various races at startup. One of the big reasons I haven't been able to level a few of my toons is dreading watching their clunky casting animations...now you can see them before you even create the character! Yay!
While the "use these buttons to move this way" tips are super annoying, I kind of wish they were implemented when I started playing. I think I would have found the whole experience a lot more enjoyable.
I like the way they've handled picking up new spells from the trainer. The game tells you that you have a new spell available for purchase, and it tells you what the spell is, so you can decide if you need to turn around RIGHT THIS SECOND and pick it up or not. I watched Zach run around on his worgen rogue for a little while, and I wasn't too crazy about the whole "here's a quest to go test out your new spell" thing. I hope it's not like that for every class (and especially not for every spell...that will get old FAST).
Holy power (paladins) is terrifying me. Is it like holy rage? Holy energy? WHAT DOES IT MEAN? I didn't think we needed another bar of stuff to keep up with, but Blizz clearly disagrees. Ah well. I'm sure it won't be that bad, BUT STILL. UNNECESSARY, IMO.
AGH AGH AGH I can't wait for the premade 85s to become available. DWARF SHAMAN IS HAPPENING SO HARD. Healing Rain, yes yes yes!
I've also gotta find/do the whole "Punch Deathwing in the Face" questline. EEeeeee :D
