now then. i think that andy's point was spot on. the polar political atmosphere that exists in the US today is largly due to the fact that each side considers members of the other side to be douches and/or stubborn fanatics. another main factor, which this letter also demonstrates, is the tendency of citizens to not even attempt to listen to what the other side has to say. it leads one to ponder how you could be so damn right if half of the country disagrees. i identify myself with the left and all, but i sometimes cringe at the bullshit that i hear come out of my left-minded peers' mouths. actually, i find that it is the middle-of-the-road folks that make the most sense (such as arizona senator john mccane) regarding tolderance of opposing ideas. i dont know, i guess i'd just like it if people gave the other side pause, if not a chance to prove themselves.
