so i have decided to bite the bullet and attend the next fresh meat orientation for the OC Roller Girls! i have talked about wanting to join Roller Derby for over a year and i could never find anyone that ever had any info, but i have sought it out myself and i am ready to do this! going to wumpskate monday only further fueled me to do this, i love ( Read more... )

Oh, also, as someone who roller derby's....I can concur..you're gonna want to work out ALL the time and skate all the time. This shit's HARD WORK! When you decide you're ready to skate at a slant at 35+mph, JOIN THE DERBY DOLLS. Teehee

yeah i am totally going to throw myself full force at this thing. fresh meat orientation is not until the 1st of march so i want to hit the gym and skate as much as i can so i can be prepared walking in there. i know that it will be hard which is both awesome and scary. i wanted to join the derby dolls from the beginning, but i live in anaheim so i didnt know if there were rules against where you could join, banked track just SEEMS more fun and more scary. ha!

There’s no rule about where you need to live to be a Derby Doll. We have girls who come from Irvine to skate! It is true, banked track is faster-paced and tons of fun…it is also harder in terms of controlling your footwork and your skates because we pick up a ton of speed and the bank changes the dynamics of how you move. Unfortunately, I think we’re putting Fresh Meat orientations on hold until next tryouts because we’re so full and the new skaters…well, some of them are WAY nooby. It is scary ( ... )

thank you for all of the GREAT advice. i know that it is going to help me so much. where were you when i wanted to do this a year ago? lol

i actually was right in front of you and there was talk of the cookies at Wump. i didnt want to be like "oh hi's i knows you from zee interweb, nice to meetz yew!!!" it is odd because i dont even remember what made me add your journal forever ago and then i found out you knew rose, so i didnt want you to think i was some weird stalker chick. i mean i am a weird stalker chick, but not in this instance... yet :)
