How do you let go of someone you've loved for years and years, through all of those silly crushes and even through not so silly relationships? Because I obviously can't do it. I've been trying to get over her for what seems like decades.

You don't. You grudgingly accept that it can't work, and for the rest of your life you look for something that feels as good as that did, but that actually works. Maybe you find it--and if you do, you'll know, and you'll stop looking. And maybe you never will, and you'll end up in a different relationship, and the first few "differents" you'll worry if you're "settling", and you'll keep worrying about that until you really accept that It Couldn't Have Worked. Then you realize that different is okay, too. But you never "get over" that love.

sam has to accept that you aren't going back to him to be walked all over for a second time. and focus on whitley if she's what you want. i hate the fact that i never know what to say to you, just because i'm so horrible at giving advice. but i want you to know that i do read, and i hope everything works out for the best.

Yeah, I know he's going to have to deal with it, I'm just worried that me leaving him is going to make him start doing coke again. I think the guilt would kill me if that happened.

And you don't have to always respond to my entries. It really is nice just knowing someone cares enough to read. Thanks :].
