More pics and a story or two...

Man, I miss Cancun. I mean, we were definitely ready to come home, but there's something about waking up at 7 am, then going out to a nearly deserted beach... yeah. Paradise, indeed.

We had a daily pattern while in Cancun. We'd wake up, go for a walk on the beach, then hit the breakfast buffet with all our new friends. After that, snorkeling, and no, we never waited the full hour after eating. Beach volleyball would ensue, or general laying about on the beach. Then lunch. Afterward, wandering back and forth between the beach and the pool bar until dinnertime. After dinner? More drinking at the outdoor bar.

I loved it. We didn't do anything stressful at all. Just hanging out, drinking, having a good time.

Here's the view that greeted Becky and me Friday morning. (the colored domes on the right are where the pool bar is located)

The Riu Cancun in the morning, before the masses trickled out.

Funny story behind this next picture. Becky just wanted to take a picture of me standing on the beach, which was cool and all. Right before she snapped the picture, she shouted, "Wave!" I thought she wanted me to, you know, wave. What she really was doing was warning me about the little ocean wave that was about to drench my up-to-that-point dry sandals. Oh well. More wedding photos.

About the only complaint that I have about the whole trip is that we didn't really leave the hotel (except for the wedding). The problem with all-inclusive resorts is that since most everything is paid for (especially alcohol), you're kind of reluctant to venture out and spend more money to see the sights or go to the clubs. On the other hand, why leave? The beach is right there, the booze is free, the food is free, life is good. Oh well, there's more to look forward to the next time we go down there (and there *will* be a next time).

Final random trivia: Right before the wedding ceremony, I downed two shots of Jim Beam whiskey. True story. Tell you what, that stuff made all the butterflies go away. On the other hand, whoa. First time I'd ever had whiskey. That shit literally tastes like burning! Luckily I stopped at two shots; who knows what more shots would have done for me at the ceremony. As it was, I felt pretty mellow, and managed to say my vows on the fly without stumbling over words (I can't honestly remember all of what I said; however I know I used the word "awesome" probably a little too much).

That's all I got for tonight; more tomorrow, as I upload more pictures.

why not have some Kentucky bourbon before getting married? I live in Kentucky, after all...
