Rants? Yes?

It's all about magnetic yellow ribbons and white babies today. I'm feeling distinctly anti-conservative lately.

First up, we have an article by conservative nitwit Cal Thomas, who somehow has his column run in many newspapers across the USA. In this column, Thomas whines about being a "minority", i.e., white married straight guys are now in the ( Read more... )

LOL! I love the fundies. And I found it hilarious that the CDC is doing studies on birth rates. Like children are a disease. I know that's not the intent, but wording made me think that.

Ha! Now that you mention it, it *is* kinda sorta ironic. :p I didn't notice the connection during my initial self-righteous rant. :p

You weren't raised Christian, were you? I know Becky was but couldn't remember about you.

I was raised Christian and can tell ya, I never understood the whole "fear of God" thing either. I was told that the Old Testament stuff doesn't apply (in that case, why does God hate fags?), but told I should continue to fear a god who tells a father to sacrifice his son "because I said so," wipes out whole towns because of teh sex, etc. (all of which is Old Testament stuff). I mean, I think saying the religion's been corrupted to a degree to kick up attendance, like one could infer that guy's saying, is a valid argument (whether or not I agree w/ it), but I think the whole God-holding-man-over-Hell-like-a-spider-over-flame viewpoint dropped from prevalence for a different reason.

That's because, Dear Cal, your God is an asshole.

QOTW. Congratulations, Charlie, you finally made it. *G*

But sometimes, I'm like a moth drawn to the flames of ignorance...

Reminds me of joe_khamael's addiction to James Dobson and other fundamentalist talk radio.

Nope. Dad was a non-practicing Catholic, and Mom is a Buddhist, and I was surrounded by a sea of Mormons. So yeah, I'm Agnostic. ;)

I'd have to agree. Frankly, I think people are maybe, just maybe thinking to themselves, "A pissed off God just... doesn't make sense!"

QOTW. Congratulations, Charlie, you finally made it. *G*

I... I did?!? YES!!!!! I made it! I'd like to thank the Academy, God, your mom...

QOTW. Yes.

And yes, Dan and I are similar with our continually subjecting ourselves to the stupid. Perhaps we both need to go to counseling or Fundamentalist Talk Radio Anonymous...

I've always liked those "Support President Bush and our troops" bumper stickers. Those things ( ... )

I have a theory about religion. (this makes the Catholics LOVE me... a woman who can think for herself) Religion was, for all intents and purposes, created by man. Or at least, created by the Big Cheese Himself, and handed it down to man, who is by nature and definition, FLAWED. Man being flawed, promptly fucked up religion. Much fighting and warfare ensued. Two thousand years passed and not a hell of a lot has changed ( ... )

Do I think that God is going to boil me in oil because I like to sleep in on Sundays? Ummm No.

I'd like to think that most people can see the sense in what you've just said. :)

We need to spend more time taking care of shit at home and less time poking our collective noses into other peoples' affairs (I mean this both from a world perspective AND a "around town" perspective). The world would be a better place...

100% agreed!

I've also seen the magnetic ribbons with a cross-shape cut out of the middle, and *those* things make me giggle.

I still need to order a WTF? sticker.
