The photos you took do make it pretty obvious. In the last one, not so obvious--I probably wouldn't have noticed if you hadn't pointed it out.
A police report would probably be a good idea for administrative purposes--USAA may need it for their records (as solid/legal proof of what happened). And personally, I wouldn't feel too bad about wasting LMPD's time--they seem to do a damn fine job of that on a daily basis anyway.
Yeah, it's a drag. I *am* glad that there's no damage that could affect the truck's performance, so I guess I should look at the bright side of things. Still, though.... bleh.
From far away, you're right... the dent isn't quite as apparent (Becky didn't see it at first either).
It's the principle of the thing, I guess. If the person had left a note, we could have worked it out, no big deal. :(
I would leave a police report just because of the placing. It looks very vandalism-ish, not "oops I parked weird"-ish. I mean, how do you even hit a truck there anyway in such a way to leave such a big dent??

Been pondering that myself. I suspect it was another person with an SUV or a large truck... they swung open their door and smacked my truck with their mirror or something.
Hopefully the bodyshop guys will have a good guess as to how it happened. Because yeah... if it was vandalism, that's even worse.
So one day I was going to the grocery store...gabbiellaMay 2 2007, 23:36:23 UTC
And I was in the parking lot and picked a really good parking spot. I was admiring the car to the right of where I parked: it was the same car as mine. When I was turning into the space, I was all excited and misjudged my distance from the car to the car on the left. Yeah, we collided.
I realized no one saw me do it, so I thought for about three minutes whether I should even say anything. I decided to do the right thing and left a note.
I'm not sure I could have lived with myself otherwise.

And I'd do that too. I mean, yeah, it'd suck financially, but it's simply the right thing to do.
You got jipped by an asshole.
Unfortunately. :(

I mean to say, I'm ALSO pissed.

And yeah, the body shop guys were mystified as well, but they did say that whoever hit my truck *knew* they hit it, based on the dent it caused.
Grrr.
