So lately I've been doing things that make me feel incredibly grown-up. i.e. signing a lease, buying dishes & other practical goods for the apartment...things of that nature

Empty nest syndrome goes both ways...little birdies need time to adjust to being on their own and having to do everything themselves...I don't think anybody is immediately comfortable when they're taken out of the surroundings they've been used to most of their lives whether they're an only child or not..once you settle in and start doign normal routines like grocery shopping and just small daily activities, you won't feel so out of place..you gotta remember you justtt moved there literally days ago so give it some time...
and because I know everybody does this, don't paint your walls neon green and hot pink..you'll never get your security $$ back easily if you're renting lol
