Well, all Best Buy did was plug a diagnostic device into it and print out the problem. No one can actually touch what's in that machine or it instantly voids ASUS's warranty. Not that it matters at this point, because I'm so fed up I'd rather not dumptruck any more money into the piece of crap.
I press the power button. It whirs at me loudly, then quietly, and proceeds to do nothing. This is the third time it's done this, on the second ASUS machine I've obtained. And the first machine I bought had the plugs in back installed incorrectly - they were all bent and crooked. Also, their customer service over the phone when I was trying to get them to live up to their warranty was EXTREMELY poor. They were condescending and just kept asking me if I had my monitor plugged in. And then they hung up on me!
Luckily, the second costumer service rep, who didn't have English as a first language, explained that I had to ship it to California for repairs on my dime. And they didn't even fix the problem.
That's odd. I'm an Avid Asus user, and like them. They have problems like any other, but are usually good to there customer base. But, I build my own computers rather then buy a pre-built one. The pre-built ones of any brand always seem to be crap. But when you can build (Or have a person who knows what the F he or she is doing, it turns out good. I admit, I replaced my Asus motherboard as well, but only because a non-asus fan on the north bridge component failed, and the MoBo overheated. So I don't blame Asus for that. That and the MoBo was 4 years old, it had a good run. I'm sorry to hear that they screwed you like that. That’s not like them, from what I have dealt with them. Next time your looking for a computer, let me know. I will set you up with a sweet computer, real cheap. I was able to get Jason a damn fine dual core, mobo, power supply, ram, and a win 7 for like, 400$. The computer im looking at will run me a thousand, but it's a top of the line. with 6 cores, and everything is over clocked. I hate how pre-built computers

Well that certainly sucks ass! My PC has been living for 5 years now and seems to be doing well. It was a display sample that I bought at a discount, too. You never know.
I think I also just really have bad luck this time. Combine that with my boyfriend's technological luck (he has a Mac, and the keyboard came warped with 1 USB port not working, and his disk drive broke, and it has a lot of other internal problems), and we just can't rely on a good computer in this house. T_T
Best PC I ever had was my first one, which was a little HP back in 1998 or 1999.
Your data isn't lost! Does ASUS have a seal on the case, itself? If not, all it takes is an adapter and a friend who is willing to hold onto your data. Hell, *I* could get your data for you (granted, I'm in the KC area, but still). I can even burn it to CD for you or, if you have an external HD or device, I could put your data on that. But the data isn't lost just because the MotherBoard is dead.
I think we've opened up the computer (or almost did) before. And we DO have an external HD laying around over here. Your idea's a good one, but I'm not sure how to extract the data from the computer's HD. O.oa
I actually had to exchange my new HP computer today because it wasn't compatible with my tablet, so... Now I have a Dell. >_<; Hoping that the new computer, "3rdTry", will work out. So far so good!
And your icon is really cute, by the way. I was so incensed when we were at Best Buy exchanging the computer yet again today, that I wandered over to the television section, and watched the solo TV that was playing the pet channel. It was just what I needed at that moment. They should stick all upset customers there!
But yeah, I'll look into your suggestion - thanks!

I'm pretty sure my problem is with ASUS.
