I would sympathize. I would tell you that life is a cruel thing, but that it doesn't mean you cannot thrive or live anymore. I would say that you are bound to have tough times, but if you never give up, you'd be just fine. I'd make mention that the disease could never take away or sicken your spirit, and you would always have that, untainted. I'd tell you that even though I've not known you that long, nor am I really close to you, I value your humanity and friendship, for all that it was worth.

I am curious as to why you would ask this, though.
