License Rescues!
First off, what kind of phrase is that, anyway? Is the license drowning or in a burning building or something? Please. There's been a lot of talk about FUNimation's possibly licensing titles which were being released by Geneon. Here's what I think about it

That's true to some extent, but also possibly wrong. After all, Geneon USA is owned by Geneon Japan (a.k.a. Geneon Entertainment Inc.), and a fair number of Geneon USA's titles come to them from Geneon JP. Black Lagoon, Ergo Proxy, and the Hellsing OVA, for example, were all produced in part by Geneon Entertainment Inc.
If I remember correctly, there was some talk back when Geneon declared it was ceasing sales and distro, that it might continue operation in the US as something of a broker for Geneon JP-- much like Kadokawa Pictures USA does. (I believe that this talk was sparked by something a Geneon rep said, but I could be misremembering, so take it with a grain of salt.)
But it's possible that Geneon USA will have a very direct hand in negotiations for some of their titles. Of course, that's speculation-- not to mention that Geneon USA has any number of titles that are NOT particularly related to Geneon JP ( ... )

Depending on what role Geneon, USA takes (which is still up in the air officially, as far as I know), they may have some dealings with other anime companies in the US for distribution rights. I just meant in my post that they wouldn't be able to sub-let or re-license titles to which they currently owned licenses unless that was either already a clause in their license (which I think unlikely), or if their license were updated to include such a clause.
BTW, randomly, thanks for taking the time to reply to my post! I honestly wasn't sure if anyone was reading it ^_^
