It's funny but I just wrote to a friend that what I want, deep down, is for total acceptance from the world for gays and lesbians. Which is totally unrealistic anytime in my lifetime, I know. But I saw this article tonight and it gave me a bit of hope

Out of all those statistics, I think the most encouraging one is the growth of the number of people who know people who are gay/lesbian. It's always a lot harder to put people into any sort of categories ("that kind of person") if you know someone who fits the category -- and my hope is that as a population, someday we can reounce the categories and just see each other through the lenses of who we really are.
