So I just saw the new Weezer video on mtvU.
Awesome!
But I was wondering if anyone could tell me some background on it? Like is Elisha Cuthbert playing someone specific? And is the green M&Ms thing making fun of someone in particular? If you have answers please comment. I'm curious!

the m&ms thing is a tour legend about Van Halen only wanting brown M&Ms as part of their tour rider:

"Article number 126: "There will be no brown M&M's in the backstage area, upon pain of forfeiture of the show, with full compensation."

Elisha is just the average rock star/diva who is easily replaced when they let fame go to their head.

What I got from it was Elisha Cuthbert is the singer of the band, Rivers is dating her and is maybe a roadie. She has to have things go her way. Artists request odd things to be in the green room, for exmaple having nothing but green M&Ms.

It's not so much that they are the star and they have to have their way (though in the video it seems that way) it's seems to be (in real life) a matter of it's people's jobs to accomodate to what they ask for. I think I heard about that M&M thing happening before and some artist getting mad over it.

So she throws a fit, they are left without a singer...Rivers comes out and rocks it and that's that, I guess.

Van Halen and their tour rider cited absolutely no brown m&ms. If there were the show would be cancelled and they would still get paid.

i think the background is basically consists of elisha cuthbert being really hot and kinda bitchy (which is really hot).

other than that, i would think maybe it were a rendition fo an old black and white film.
