Well, I finally got around to making my counselling appointment down at school. I'm probably going to end up applying to CSU Chico as well as Cal Poly and Cogswell. After seeing Chico, I really would love to go there. I could spend days at a time in the wilderness surrounding Chico......gets me moist just thinking about it ( Read more... )

BIND isn't that hard, once you get over the really annoying format. I run a BIND daemon on my home machine (which is how I resolve internal IPs as opposed to external ones). The config file is actually pretty nice to work with... it's just the zone files that are slightly annoying. A bunch of numbers, and no real indication what they're for.

As for subversion... I'll try it once it's marked as stable. :) I have way too much of my life's work in CVS to switch now; and I'd feel much more comfortable if they had a tried-and-true, supported way of migrating. They do have a script, but nobody's actively working on it. So meh.

And I have an Apache, so I think I can afford to run Subversion on it. :) Not sure I like their way of doing access-fu though. I like CVS's access control -- simple! Just change permissions on the files in the repo. :) Plus, I trust SSH more than I trust HTTPS.

The cvs2svn.py script *is* being worked on actively. (I've seen some commits fly by for it lately) And you can use svn via ssh much like CVS does. It's just that via webdav is much easier. :) (at least, if you already have a working apache install)

Anyways, this way you don't have to mess with permissions. Just /Require valid-user/htpasswd for each repo you want. Or just set one htpasswd file for all your repos. SIMPLE!

Great, so now I get to bug you about how to configure bind. Whee. :)

If by "bug me", you mean, "look at deneb's configuration files", then yes. :)
