And this is one of them. This was created on the spot and sent to me in bits and pieces the other night.
I have a small predicament towards my raid spec and I want to know your opinion (‘cause it matters, you see)
-Lay it on me. I am not exactly well versed in DKs, but I will do my best.
I’ll try story mode.
Once upon a time, there was a Blood DK named Ardonyx who enjoyed playing World of Warcraft.
-Oooh I’m liking this story, you give you characters interesting names!
As time went on, Ardonyx enjoyed playing his DK, especially blood, because big numbers are fun and it was pleasable dps for all situations.
As she started collecting gear in raids, one day she realized that her spec was not superior from a dps standpoint after noticing a DK in blues that was dual wielding and achieving significantly higher dps than her (and she had many epics, you see!)
-But purpulz are LEET!
After brief consideration, she changed her spec from a 2H blood spec to a hybrid dual wielding spec to compare her damage. Dual wield was higher, indeed.
She stuck with this spec, collecting a few excellent weapons for her cause. She did notice, however, that it wasn’t as much fun to play as the blood spec she had leveled up and learned to love.
A few days after her new weapons were equipped, Blizzard graced us with a patch that improved blood and slightly decreased frost/unholy dps.
Now, Ardonyx was excited about this change (especially as she enjoyed using her two hander for blood) and had deeply considered trying out the new improvements to that spec, but she wanted to keep everyone happy.
She did not want anyone to get the idea that she was taking two excellent one handers and then wanting to switch back to a two handed spec, so instead of spending the money to respec she stayed dual wield and continued to raid as this spec.
Days later, the ambitious, young and bicurious gnome decided to try out the new spec when raids for the night had been canceled due to a lack of water balloons. She liked it.
As much as she liked it, she was upset that she would be required to switch back to her dual wield spec to keep guild drama low (because not only did each spec require different weapons, but slightly different gear as well.) She was not a loot whore.
Hours later, after a bit more thought, she decided to turn to the leader of her guild for some advice. She decided to speak her mind and situation in story mode.
The extra lines are mine that I sent at the time, as I originally intended to poke fun until I realized there was actually a point to the "story." I told him not to worry about it. Patches change things, and we roll with the punches and if he's actually reading EJ, doing research and testing out different specs, there isn't much else we can ask for in a casual raiding guild. That's the ideal.
