I really have to hand it to those who did these teaching programs before the internet. They essentially had to search high and low for fellow foreigners and new friends. Nowadays, I just go to Facebook and search for usergroups... instant friend-pool, heeheehee.

And yes... 3 years is the plan. I figure I'm turning my life upside-down to do this, I might as well make it all the more worthwhile. It's nothing definite, of course. A lot depends on how I like the area/job and how well the people I work for like and appreciate me. I think if I start off by telling people that I'm in it for the long run, then at least people will treat me more like a full-fledged teacher and not some disposable wide-eyed wanderer just swinging by Japans for the pretty lights and colors only to disappear in 6 months. ^___^
