Important lesson:
Our microwave at work cooks popcorn in two minutes, and the SECOND the popping slows even a little, stop it.

Fresh, hot buttered popcorn smells wonderful.
Burnt popcorn does not.
There is a 5 second window in my microwave.

A lot of workplaces here have actually banned microwave popcorn because people tend to not pay attention and start fires, heh.

All work microwaves operate like this.
My microwave at home, I can keep it running until I can count the time between pops like the directions say, nothing gets burnt.
But a work microwave? You must watch it like a hawk. If you so much as blink, you will fill the entire building with the smell of burnt popcorn.
