Six months had passed since the not quite end of the world. Dean had stayed in Lawrence, taking a construction job. Sam went back to school, Harvard this time. As always, Dean was damned proud of his brother.

But at this very moment, Dean would rather be stuck in a room with two dozen demons than here on this blind date his coworker set up for him.

The girl was pretty, no doubt about it. But Dean didn’t want to go through the motions. Her sister, one of the two women that worked on the site, had been trying to set this up for weeks now. Dean reluctantly agreed just to get her off his back.

He was straight with the girl, Marney? Marissa? Mar-something. Said that he was still trying to recover after a devastating end to a long term relationship. She nodded sympathetically and tried to hold his hand. She then launched into a half hour tirade about how her ex ripped her heart out over a year ago, and she was still trying to recover. Dean was looking around the small restaurant, trying to find their waiter. He really needed like another dozen beers if he planned on surviving this.

His eyes did another desperate sweep of the room when he saw him. Dean blinked several times and shook his head. Clearly, he was hallucinating, seeing Castiel walking through the restaurant towards their table. Dean saw the half smile the angel gave him and a small glint in those unbelievable eyes.

Dean was out of his seat before he even realized it, walking towards Castiel. Dean threw his arms around the smaller man and kissed him. Castiel kissed back.

“Please tell me you’re real, and I’m not making out with empty air in a restaurant,” Dean whispered in between kisses. He could hear the muttering of the other diners and the indignant squawk of his blind date as she rambled on her cell phone about the loser she was set up with.

“I’m here, I’m real,” Castiel assured Dean.

“Thank God,” Dean sighed before taking his lover’s lips again.

“I told you that He could perform miracles,” Castiel said against his lover’s lips.

The sound of someone clearing their throat beside them broke the reunited lover’s embrace. It was the hostess, looking a little embarrassed.

“I’m sorry to ruin your moment, but would you mind returning to your table?” She said, trying to hide a smile.

Dean took Castiel’s hand in his and led him to the table where he was sitting. His blind date, Mar-whatever was long gone. Castiel took in the table and narrowed his eyes at Dean.

“You were on a date,” Castiel said with a hint of hurt in his voice. Dean took his lover’s hand in his and kissed his knuckles.

“Yeah, well, I didn’t want to. Linda badgered me into it,” Dean explained. “I’m pretty sure she’s a Harvelle, with the way that she gets.”

Castiel gave a small laugh as a waiter approached.

“But you’re here, and that’s all that matters,” Dean said as he shooed the waiter away. “So, you hopped back up on angel juice?”

“Unfortunately, I am not,” Castiel replied with a small smile. “I’m human now, doomed to a short and fragile life, here on Earth.”

Dean laughed for the first time in six months.

“You better give me the whole story at some point,” he said as he placed kisses along the back of Castiel’s hand.

Dean waved over the waiter hovering near their table and ordered for both of them.

“So, does this count as keeping up my end of that double dare?” Dean asked with a smirk.

“Considering this date started with someone else, no,” Castiel said with a grin before leaning over the table and kissing Dean again.
