Find something to be happy about, and hold on to it for all it's worth.

When somebody is happy, is it just a chemical reaction or a state that someone chooses to be in?  Is it something that can be lost, or something that can be given?  Is this concept of happiness something that we can easily grasp?  Sure, many of us say we’re happy, but are we really?  Or is it just something we say in order to make things out to be better than they really are?

I believe that happiness is the sate of being content with how life is, and that it’s not something you can just turn off and on, but something that others can influence… a permanent human trait that only comes out when you’re content with everything that surrounds you. Many people think about and ponder on this concept of happiness, even I have.  For years I’ve considered myself a very happy person.  Even though I have had some low moments in my life that are hard to get out of, my happiness always comes back.  It’s like a natural high that everyone experiences but takes for granted and doesn’t realize it till it’s gone.  The only costs for this feeling are those moments of sadness or anger that we all encounter along the way, but it seems that once it comes back, it’s all worth it in the end.  Then the cycle just continues to replay again and again.  The only things I believe are responsible for this feeling is yourself, your family, and your friends.  Happiness isn’t given to you materially, but given through affection that others give to you or affection you give to them.  Having said that, fame and fortune definitely do not equal happiness… it is a very common tale that many times, is just brushed off by those who do not appreciate how good they really do have it.  And even the people who have all the money in the world sometimes aren’t as happy as they’d like to be. “Happiness is not in the mere possession of money; it lies in the joy of achievement, in the thrill of creative effort.”  Happiness shouldn’t be and isn’t about the money or the fame, but is about the ability to accept yourself and be content with you, everyone else and everything else around you.  It is horrible to see people down and unhappy for most of their life, and to me it’s completely unhealthy.

Happiness should be embraced, not taken for granted.  Our ability to feel happy is not only a trait of human nature but a gift given to us that allows us to feel contentment, allows us to smile, and allows us to even feel invincible.  Life is too short to be pissed off or sad all the time.  Happiness is what keeps us going… it’s the drive to feel like everything is okay, it’s what keeps us sane
