3x17: Pusher

This episode appears on many best episode lists and is a favorite of fans and critics alike. Reportedly, when Gilligan turned in the script, he told Chris Carter that the episode was "the best work I'm ever gonna do for you." I think "Bad Blood" is much better, but that's just me.

I thought I'd contribute to this too, although I can't think of anything particularly analytical or smart to say so i'm just going to go ahead and say that this is one of my favourite episodes, and mostly because of the physicality of it. In particular, I absolute love how Modell has them literally running around all the time, so I loved the movement that characterised the shots of the interactions between Mulder and Scully. Running towards the phone booth? Loved it. Frank's phone call? Loved it. (although I never quite understood why every other agent in the room just decided not to lift a single finger while he was quite obviously having a heart attack). Scully shouting "Damn you Modell!" Loved it! Always gets me jumping from my seat (though not quite as much as her beloved "i'll gas you out of this life you son of a bitch" speech in Beyond the Sea
