Ooh! I like this, though it makes me sad to read Mulder and Scully not together.

I'm going to Diana's parents' house. She's waiting there already.

Not the Diana??

Yes, I'm afraid so. In this AU, Scully leaves the X-files to care for her special needs daughter, so she isn't there to keep him from getting back together with Diana.

I am glad you liked it. I watched Emily and Christmas Carol last night and this was the bitter result. Most people write AU to fix what they think went wrong. I must think things are un-fixable, because mine always have a catastrophe at their core.

Yeah I figured you'd have to have been watching Emily and Christmas Carol =) Funnily enough I was thinking of writing a Mulder/Diana AU too!

Catastrophe definitely makes things more...interesting, once in a while I think.

I love good Diana/Mulder. She is a neglected character in fanfic. I have been wanting to write a follow-up to my AU story, focusing more on the back story on her and her illness. I kind of want to write a followup to this, too.

If you do write some Diana fic, please post it to haremxf. I wish the community was more active.

This is the kind of AU I like, where things are worse (maybe) instead of better. What can I say?

Mulder smiles in return. Sometimes he stays until she gets home. Mostly he goes on his way. He wishes he could stay and never leave. He thinks he is a selfish bastard who managed just once to do the right thing, and in doing it lost what was most precious to him. Every year he comes here, at Christmastime, to remind himself of why he did it. Of who he did it for.

I like this part. Very effective.

And I love that there is Mulder/Diana, and that Mulder smells like smoke.

Mulder and the Smoking Man and Diana, the unholy Trinity, to balance happy Dana, Emily and Mr. Dana.

Now I want to write a sequel.

You should totally write a sequel. How the other half is living.

I'm just saying.

Thank you, for reading and commenting. Yes. It is really sad. These are sad episodes, perhaps the hardest in the series for me to watch, for many reasons.
