KATE, WHY did you have to use that picture? WHYWHY? I swear, I actually get distracted every time I watch that scene because of The Horribleness of the Hair. I get embarrassed for Scully when all that important stuff is going down, and that's terribly superficial of me. I can't help it.
I like the episode, it's not really a worthy follow up of an iconic villain but I do enjoy it nonetheless. I love the post ep fic for this where he lets her sleep at her place. LOVE. I just rewatched this one the other day so I did seek out the fic right away for this one - it's all fresh like in my mind now.
And damn Scully, why so many candles? Girl could open up a shop. Or an etsy store.
Errr, I blended some thoughts up there. When "he" lets her sleep at her place in fanfic, I meant to say Mulder of course. Not Pfaster. Hello, disturbing.
LOL! Sorry! I like that picture - despite the hair. It always reminds me of this episode for some reason. I uploaded one od Pfaster as the devil, but it looked horrible, I can change it if its so horrible :oP
Nooo don't change it. It just startled me because it was that very scene I was going to comment on!
I don't remember the particular fics offhand, I browsed the Gossamer posteps and I didn't make a note of which ones I liked :( There are some good ones there though...ones with Scully not wanting to take baths anymore etc etc and Mulder being so awesome and comforting. ♥
Ah, yes that horrible hair cut. I haven't seen this episode in so long. I know the first episode they did of him I was so freaked out. I think it's the only episode that really bothered me, but this one, eh, not so much. And, I don't get that whole monster thing either.
I have to check in as the minority who loves this episode. I love Donnie Pfaster--um, you know as a bad guy not in a creepy girl-who-writes-to-men-in-prison way. I love season 7 in general. I love Scully-centric episodes. I love the creepy, philosophical episodes. It's really a win all around. And the hair doesn't so much bother me. Sure, it's definitely been better, but it's *certainly* been worse.
How does Mulder know that Donnie Pfaster escaped at exactly 6:06AM when no-one can remember him walking out of the prison? Security cameras, I would assume?
And also? Where exactly was Mulder taking her when he told her to pack some things? Back to his place for some Mulder!comfort? I thought the same thing. 'Cuz really, if she were going to her mother's, Maggie would've picked her up. Just one more thing that supports my theory of some lovin' before "all things".
I dont hate this episode. Its a bit blah, but I certainly dont mind it :oD I dont know if it has a lot of fandom hate or love.

LOL. You know, just copy and paste my facts and stuff and I was going to erase that "goof" or whatever you want to call it because I thought the same thing. I guess it slipped by me.

The religious episodes tend not to really do it for me, and this episode definitely went more into those themes than Irresistible. Even though that episode did hint at Donnie not being human, part of what made the plot so creepy was that (except for those flashes), he seemed to be human, and so it gives more of a this-could-happen-to-you feel. This episode somewhat steps away from that--although Scully *does* kill him in the end, and I think the first time I saw this I failed to connect that to what Donnie says to Reverand Orison--that he can't kill him and then he transformed, which I saw as making his demon/devil-ness canon. But. A bullet does kill him, so, I suppose it is still a bit ambiguous
( ... )
I am a fan of this episode, Pfaster is one the MOTWs that truly disturbs me, and the thought of him on the loose gives me the shivers. I didn't care for the overall storyline that brought him back (with the Reverend) but I do appreciate the episode.
The one thing in this one that does get me thinking is how much of a dick Mulder is to Scully when she's trying to make connections. She says things that are as "out there" as Mulder's theories sometimes are, but he seems to be mocking her at times for the connections that she's alluding to. I always hate when that side of Mulder comes out, because it's not the first time. As soon as she says or believes something that's not entirely scientific, he berates her?!

Really? What do you find is especially bad? I think this is my least favorite style of hers.
